Coding for Preschool and Kindergarten
Category: Education / Coding Activities
Your little one practices clear, step-by-step directions before reading: 50 screen-free arrow coding puzzles for ages 4-6, in A4 and US Letter.
Watch your little one give clear, step-by-step directions long before they can read. With these unplugged coding worksheets for preschool and kindergarten, your child moves a dot with arrows only: up, down, left, right. Ten quiet minutes at the table become real coding practice, and left and right start to make sense. This is a 64-page printable arrow coding book with 50 puzzles, warm-up pages and Body Coding floor cards.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
• 1 ZIP download with 2 PDF books: A4 and US Letter (each laid out for its own paper size)
• 64 pages in each book, black and white and ink-friendly
• PRINT-GUIDE.pdf: which file to print, how to print, every symbol and coding word explained
• 8 warm-up pages: trace the arrows, color the arrows, where will the dot go, trace the path
• 50 arrow coding puzzles in 4 activities that build step by step
• 20 Body Coding picture cards for floor games, plus START and GOAL floor markers
• 24 big command cards and 56 cut-out arrows
• Grown-up guide, tips for teachers, a "Make your own puzzle" page and a star tracker
• Full answer key and a Little Coder certificate
THE 4 ACTIVITIES
• Follow & Color (puzzles 1-14): follow the arrows and color the square where the dot stops
• Draw the Path (puzzles 15-28): follow the arrows and draw the path to the star
• Glue the Missing Arrows (puzzles 29-40): cut out arrows and glue them into the empty boxes
• Find the Wrong Arrow (puzzles 41-50): circle the arrow that is wrong and draw the right one
• Only 3 x 3 and 4 x 4 grids, so pages stay calm and clear for little eyes
• Arrows and pictures only: no reading needed. A short line for the grown-up sits above each puzzle
• Every puzzle has exactly one correct answer, checked by computer, and the answer key shows the path
PERFECT FOR
• Preschool, Pre-K and kindergarten (about ages 4 to 6)
• Homeschool STEM and first computer science lessons
• Math or STEM centers, morning work and early finishers
• Quiet time, rainy days and travel without screens
• Teachers who want a no-prep coding unit with a movement game
HOW TO USE
• Start with the warm-up pages, then go in order
• Put a button or coin on the dot and move it one square for each arrow
• One to three puzzles a day is plenty at this age
• Play the Body Coding games: the grown-up holds up a card and the children move
• Check the answers together and color a star on the tracker
HOW TO PRINT
• Print at home or at a print shop on regular paper (80 to 100 gsm / 20 to 24 lb)
• Choose "Actual size" or "100%" so the cut-out arrows fit the glue boxes
• Print single-sided
• Card stock (160 to 250 gsm) or lamination works best for the Body Coding cards and command cards
• Pick the A4 file or the US Letter file to match your paper
