WHAT THIS IS
A single file that opens in the browser you already have. No installing, no account, no internet, nothing to subscribe to. It is the same 100 heart words, in the same 10 sets of 10, as our printable Heart Words Flash Cards & Practice Book, now as an offline HTML web app for home and classroom.
WHAT'S INCLUDED (3 files, delivered in one ZIP)

WHAT IT DOES
• Learn mode: Say it, Map it, Heart it, Read it. Each tap shows the next sound box with its sound (/s/ /e/ /d/), then the red heart and what the heart letters say ("ai says /e/"), then a short sentence to read together
• Review mode: Got it or Not yet. Not-yet words come back 3 cards later and are first in line next time. Got-it words wait a little longer each time
• Quick Check: the word shows for 3 seconds (2 to 5 in settings), then hides. Read it in time on 3 different days and the word is mastered
• A profile for each child on the same device
• A grown-ups dashboard (behind a simple sum) that shows which words are mastered in every set, with a red heart for each one
• Add your own words: type the word, split it into sound boxes, mark the tricky letters, add a sentence
• Print button for paper cards of only the words not mastered yet, 8 per page, A4 or US Letter
• Full screen for the smart board, with keyboard and clicker keys
• Clean black and white screen with one red heart: no characters, no ads, no games to buy
HOW TO OPEN IT
Unzip the download. Double-click Heart-Words-Flash-Cards-App.html. It opens in your browser. If it opens in another program, right-click it and choose Open with, then Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge. The Quick Start Guide shows every step for Windows, Mac, Chromebook and Android.
HOW SAVING WORKS
Everything saves by itself in the browser you use, on that device. "Saved" shows at the top of the screen. Press Back up to a file in the grown-ups area to make a small backup file you keep. Press Import a backup to bring everything back on any computer. Please note: clearing your browsing data also clears the app's memory, so the backup file is your safety net.
WHAT IT IS NOT
• Not a phone-store app: it is a file you open in your browser
• No account and no subscription
• No syncing between devices. To move to another device, take your backup file with you
• No sound recordings of the letter sounds. The "Hear it" button reads the word and sentence only on devices that have a built-in English voice
BROWSER SUPPORT
• Recommended: Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge on Windows, Mac and Chromebook, and Chrome on Android tablets and phones
• Safari on Mac and Firefox: the app works. If the screen says "Not saved: make a backup", that browser does not keep data for local files, so use Back up before closing
• iPhone and iPad: not supported for daily use. Apple only opens HTML files as a preview from the Files app
