Listening Comprehension Stories for Kindergarten
Category: Education / Reading Activities
100 original read-aloud stories for ages 4-6, each with 3 questions and a new word. Print in A4 or US Letter, or read from your phone.
Five quiet minutes, one short story, and a little listener who can't wait to answer. This book turns read-aloud time into real listening practice for children who are not reading yet.
You read a short story aloud (about one minute). Then you ask three questions that grow from remembering, to thinking, to sharing. Each story also has one new word with a simple meaning you can explain. Listening comes before reading, so this is gentle, early practice for reading comprehension later.

HOW TO USE
• Point to the picture and ask what the story might be about.
• Read the story aloud slowly, with voices and big sound words.
• Ask the three questions in order. Answers for questions 1 and 2 are printed in small gray text for you.
• Talk about the new word and try to use it today.
• Color a circle on the tracker for each question answered.
• Start at Level 1 and move up when your child answers most questions without help.
HOW TO PRINT
• Use the A4 file for A4 paper and the US Letter file for Letter paper.
• Print at "Actual size" or "100%" (choose "Fit" if your printer cuts the edges), portrait.
• Regular printer paper (80 to 90 gsm / 20 to 24 lb) works well. For pages that last, use 120 gsm / 32 lb paper or sheet protectors.
• Color looks best, but black and white works fine. White pages save ink.
• Print it all, or print one level at a time. Page numbers are in the print guide.
