Multiplication Facts Story & Picture Method Workbook
Category: Education / Math Worksheets
A printable times tables workbook that cuts the job down to 21 facts and gives each one a story, a picture and a memory hook. A4 and US Letter.
Your child learns 7 × 8 today and forgets it tomorrow? This workbook shrinks the job to just 21 facts and gives every one of them a short story, a picture and a memory hook, so the fact has something to hold on to.
WHAT'S INCLUDED
• 2 PDF workbooks: A4 and US Letter (each laid out for its own paper size, not stretched)
• 90 pages + cover in each workbook (same content in both sizes)
• 1 PRINT GUIDE (PDF): which file to use, how to print, math words explained
• Everything comes in one ZIP file
INSIDE THE 90 PAGES
• 4 parent pages: why only 21 facts, a color chart that shows what gets crossed off, how to use the book, and a 21-fact tracker
• 21 story fact pages, one for each hard fact: a 3-line story, a picture, the fact as dots in rows, skip counting, tracing, and 3 quick questions
• 12 strategy pages for the easy tables: turnarounds, ×2 doubles, ×10, ×5 as half of ×10, ×5 on the clock, ×4 double-double, the ×9 finger trick, the ×9 pattern, ×3 and ×6, ×11 and ×12
• 20 mixed practice pages that build step by step. Each page says which fact it comes after, so only learned facts appear
• 11 one-minute tests (20 problems each) and a color-in progress graph
• 10 game pages: bingo with 4 boards and 30 caller cards, a dice game, a board game, four in a row, 30 fold-over fact cards, and a certificate
• 11 pages of answer keys
WHY ONLY 21 FACTS?
The 1–12 chart has 144 facts. Take away the easy tables (×1, ×2, ×5, ×10), the pattern tables (×11, ×12) and the turnarounds (3 × 8 is the same as 8 × 3), and only 21 facts are left to really learn: the ×3, ×4, ×6, ×7, ×8 and ×9 facts.
PERFECT FOR
• Grade 3 and grade 4 students learning times tables 2–12
• Kids who memorize facts and then forget them
• Visual learners, and many kids who find memorizing hard, including learners with dyscalculia (this is a practice workbook, not a diagnosis or therapy)
• Homeschool, after-school practice, tutoring and math centers
• Summer review before grade 4 or grade 5
HOW TO USE
• Start with the strategy pages to handle the easy tables
• Learn about 3 story facts a week: read the story aloud, say the memory hook, trace, answer the quick questions
• Do the mixed practice page for that stage, then a 1-minute test
• Color the score on the progress graph and tick the fact tracker
• Play a game whenever practice needs a lift. About 10 minutes a day is plenty
HOW TO PRINT
• Use the A4 file or the US Letter file, whichever matches your paper
• In the print window choose "Actual size" or "100%", not "Fit to page"
• Regular paper (80–100 gsm / 20–24 lb) for worksheets; card stock (160–200 gsm / 65–110 lb) for game boards and cards
• Print single-sided. Pages also print clearly in black and white
• Reprint any page as often as you need for your own child or class
