Teacher Gradebook & Student Data Dashboard
Category: Education / Teacher Resources
A complete gradebook for one class: weighted grades, standards levels, missing work, attendance, student reports and parent messages, for Google Sheets and Excel.
Every grade, every term, every student, and the reports you need for parents, all in one colourful spreadsheet that does the maths for you.
This Teacher Gradebook and Student Data Dashboard is a complete grading system for one class: up to 40 students and up to 60 assignments in each of 4 terms. Type scores; it works out weighted grades, letter grades from your own scale, standards levels from 1 to 4, missing work, attendance and ready-to-send parent messages.
WHAT'S INCLUDED (1 ZIP download)
• Quick Start Guide (PDF) with Make-a-copy links for the Google Sheets version: Blank + Example
• Teacher Gradebook - Blank (.xlsx) for Excel
• Teacher Gradebook - Example (.xlsx) with a sample class of 28 students, two terms of grades and attendance
INSIDE THE GRADEBOOK (14 tabs)
• Dashboard - class average, median, students below your passing line, missing and late work, attendance rate, grade distribution chart, category averages, the students who need attention and the latest assignments. Pick any term.
• Setup - class name, teacher, 4 grading terms with dates and weights, up to 8 categories with weights (for example Tests 40%, Homework 20%), drop-lowest per category, your letter scale (A+ to F, or your own), late penalty, passing line, standards levels and up to 30 standards.
• Roster - up to 40 students with student ID, parent name, email, phone and notes.
• 4 Term Gradebooks - up to 60 assignments each, with category, date, max points and standard. Type a score, or M for missing, L18 for late (the late penalty applies), EX for excused. Grade, letter, standards level, missing and late counts update instantly, and every assignment shows its average, highest, lowest and how many scored below the passing line.
• Attendance - one column per school day for the whole year (P, A, T, E), with totals and attendance %.
• Student Page - pick a student and a term: grade, letter, level, missing, late, attendance, category breakdown, standards, every assignment score, a progress chart against the class average and a note for the family. Prints on one page for parent conferences.
• Missing Work - each student's missing and late assignments listed by name, with counts, a "family contacted" date column, and the most-missed assignments.
• Parent Messages - a ready-to-send note for every student with grade, missing and late work, and absences. Edit the wording once; copy and paste into your email.
• Test Analysis - for every assignment: average, highest, lowest, median, how many below the passing line, missing, late and scored, with a chart. Filter by category to see only tests.
• Standards - each student's level from 1 to 4 on every standard, coloured by Exceeds, Meets, Approaching and Beginning, with class averages.
• Report Cards - term grade, letter from your scale, standards level, category averages, missing work, absences, tardies and a comment column; plus a year summary with each term and a weighted final grade.
WHY IT WORKS
• Weighted categories or total points, your choice, with optional drop-lowest.
• Percentages and standards-based levels side by side.
• Missing and late work never slip through: they are counted, listed and written into the parent note.
• Colourful and clear: yellow cells are for typing, everything else is automatic.
• Works in Google Sheets AND Excel. No add-ons, no macros.
PERFECT FOR
• Elementary, middle and high school teachers
• Teachers who use standards-based grading, or both percentages and standards
• Homeschool families and tutors who report grades to parents
